Cracker group arrested in Brazil

Accord­ing to infor­ma­tions pro­vided by the author­i­ties, the Pub­lic pros­e­cu­tion ser­vice and the Civil Police had yes­ter­day ful­filled 29 arrest war­rants in three states at the south of Brazil.
The group had 3 mem­bers in the state of Paraná, 1 in Santa Cata­rina and 25 in Rio Grande do Sul.
In Curitiba two mem­bers of the group have been cap­tured – one of them is the leader and men­tor of the group, the other one was in charge of laun­der­ing the money. The leader’s mother, who, accord­ing to the police, also had tasks in the group, was detained in Mar­ingá (PR). In Flo­ri­anópo­lis, a man laun­der­ing money was also arrested. Nine other mem­bers were also arrested near the west­ern bor­der of Rio Grande Do Sul — three men in San­tana do Livra­mento and six women in Quarai. The Oper­a­tion Nerd II, as it was nick­named by the pros­e­cu­tor of Porto Ale­gre, was divided in simul­ta­ne­ous actions car­ried out by four teams, with mem­bers of the Pub­lic pros­e­cu­tion ser­vice and the Civil Police.
The Pub­lic pros­e­cu­tion ser­vice cal­cu­lated that the group has stolen more than R$ 10 mil­lion from bank accounts (over US$ 5 mil­lions), they also seized all the goods belong­ing to the group.

The Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tor, Ricardo Herb­strith, respon­si­ble for the oper­a­tion, informed that in Curitiba a “com­puter island” was seized, two devices for cloning bank­ing cards, var­i­ous blank mag­netic cards, lap­tops, money, an aparta­ment top floor and two cars.
