Some troubles that might happen with Linux and Mac
27/04/2007 Written by Boris Mutina (minor)
Beware Linux and Mac users! Mac and open-source platform should no longer be so secure against viruses, PC Pro informed on Tuesday.
As Mr. Eugene Kaspersky claimed, there will be a significant rise in virus attacks on these platforms.
As reason sees Mr. Kaspersky, that with new Microsoft OS more users will move towards alternative platforms, making them a target for malware writers. “It’s not so easy to find good anti-virus experts for non-Windows platforms” Mr. Kaspersky stated.
Open source presents more serious problems: “More people are watching open-source code, so they are more quick to find problems. If the people who make the fix are good guys, that’s great, if they are bad guys, that’s a problem”.
Other platforms should be affected too — consoles and smartphones should be also target for attacks. Especially smartphones could be a target for phishing…
Tools for Password Cracking

Have you ever forgotten a password? Have you ever desperately tried to remember it to open a vitally-important file? Apparently, similar problems should be over, at least according to those companies that are promoting tools for Password Recovery.
There are lots of software for password cracking… A real blessing for absent-minded users!
The problem is that we are not sure that only forgetful people will take advantage of them, especially considering those software that in addition to password cracking provide “document protections removal”.
For example, on April 19th, the Russian software developer Intelore released a toolkit , named OpenOffice Password Recovery , that allows to get back forgotten passwords in OpenOffice documents.

The US Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against three IT giants such as Hewlett-Packard, Sun and Accenture. Specifically the accusation, that was made official last Thursday, claims that the three firms “paid and received kickbacks from IT partners in exchange for preferential treatment on government contracts” and that they submitted several false claims about government contracts since late ‘90s , the magazine Infoworld reported.
The accusation was originally formalized by an Accenture employee who declared that the companies created strong relationship with many IT vendors, in order to provide each other discounts, rebates on products and/or work in government contracts. The problem is that, according to the documents related to the lawsuit, the companies didn’t pass the rebates to their clients.A Killer mobile phone virus spread panic in Kabul
